University Ranking
When we talk about Northumbria University ranking. The university has been ranked between 901 and 1000 for two years in a row, 2019 and 2020 by ARWU Shanghai Ranking. The Shanghai ranking doesn’t consider an institution’s reputation among academics or employers, preferring instead to rank universities by considering the level of academic research they produce and the number of Nobel Prizes won by their staff.
The QS World University Ranking has ranked the university in-between 651 and 700 for 2021, which is an improvement from its earlier years. Times Higher Education has ranked the university in-between 351 and 400 for two years in a row, which is also an improvement from its earlier positions. While QS puts a maximum focus on Academic Reputation (40%) followed by Faculty/Student Ratio and Citations per Faculty at 20% each,
Times Higher Education (THE) devotes equal importance to Teaching, Research, and Citations at 30% each. The Complete University Guide has ranked the university at number 52 for 2021. The Guardian has ranked the university at 27 which is many points up from its earlier ranking of 50 for 2017.
When we talk about US News and World Report, the university has been ranked 660 for 2021. The US News & World Report takes into account Global Research Reputation, Regional Research Reputation, and Number of Publications cited (12.5% each) among other ranking parameters, as part of their ranking methodology.
